Talking about peace and security together
In the run-up to the NATO Summit on 24 and 25 June 2025, the touring programme ‘NATO and the Netherlands: A Journey’ will be visiting cities across the country, including The Hague, Groningen, Nijmegen, Eindhoven, Utrecht, Maastricht and Alkmaar.
The goal of the exhibition is to engage people in conversation about national and international security. Peace and security concern us all.
And they cannot be taken for granted. The travelling exhibition is being organised by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence, in partnership with the Netherlands Atlantic Association, the Clingendael Institute, The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) and other organisations.
Peace and Security: A Journey
The program in brief:
- Photo exhibition: the story of NATO, in pictures
- Live events and educational programmes: for pupils aged 10 to 18 and students in secondary vocational education and higher education, organised by the Netherlands Atlantic Association and partners
- Serious gaming: an e-sports Valorant tournament organised by the Ministry of Defence
- Research and debate: inspiring sessions organised by the Clingendael Institute and HCSS
Contributors: Haagsch College, Young Atlantic Association, the Children’s Correspondent, De Kiesmannen, Ministry of Defence (e-sports, Veterans in the classroom), higher education institutions and participating municipalities.

The travelling exhibition officially began its journey in The Hague on 28 January. ‘NATO and the Netherlands: A Journey’ will stop at several cities around the country before completing its journey back in The Hague.
